The Bible
by God, Through Human Authors

Honestly, the best thing to do to deepen in the outcome of Self-Feeding is just to jump right into the Bible itself. Pick one book and study it all the way through, choose a particular passage to look at in-depth, or perhaps study a recurring word or theme that appears in several places in Scripture. One of the more simple but profound practices a person can engage is the daily reading of Scripture. The following reading plans are helpful to guide one’s steps. No matter which reading plan you use, you will want to use a Bible translated into today’s English. We recommend any of the following:

  • New International Version (NIV)
  • English Standard Version (ESV)
  • New Living Translation (NLT)

  • THE BOOK OF JOHN – FOR THOSE READING SCRIPTURE FOR THE FIRST TIME If you are new to Scripture determining where to start can be daunting. Many start at the beginning—Genesis—which make sense from a certain vantage point but often gets a them bogged down. More simply, consider reading the gospel of John. The Bible has two major sections: Old Testament and New Testament. John is found in the New Testament. The first four books of the New Testament are called the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They tell the story of Jesus. The gospel of John has 21 chapters. Read it at your own pace. If you prefer a plan, consider any of the following:

The Three Day Plunge – Read 7 chapters a day for 3 days in a row. The Seven Day Challenge – Read 3 chapters a day for 7 days. The Twenty-one Day Experiment – Read 1 chapter a day for 21 days.

NEW TESTAMENT – 5X5X5 READING PLAN The 5x5x5 reading plan encourages you to read for 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, with 5 ways to dig more deeply into passages you read. By following this plan for a year you will read daily from one of the four gospels, and you will read the entire New Testament. Download Here

The plan has 25 readings per month offering the reader time to catch up if you’ve fallen behind, or time to go back and reflect on what you have already read. Download Here

ONE YEAR PLAN This plan takes a reader through the entire Bible in a year.
